Due to controversy over the gum that Luis Gonzalez discarded during a
spring training game March 7 in Tucson, Gonzo has kindly provided
another piece of gum which has been fully authenticated (for Tucson Citizen story, click here). This gum was
chewed in the presence of media representatives on April 11 at Colorado's Coors Field, then placed in an empty water bottle and autographed. It was shipped via Federal Express to auction liaisons Johnjay Van Es and Rich Berra at KRQ radio in Tucson, where it will remain secure until bidding is completed April 15. Once Van Es and Berra receive the donation on behalf of Lakeview High School, the original gum in Minnesota and new gum in Arizona will be delivered to the winning bidder. The identities of bidders will be disclosed only on their own terms. Please call (877) 932-2257 if you have additional questions.
All proceeds from the auction of Gonzo's gum and the autographed baseballs shown below will benefit athletics and a scholarship fund at Lakeview High School. WINNING BID: $10,000
